ABOUT US: Peninsula Competition, LTD is in their 22nd year of providing top notch Alpine Ski Race Camps to train high school and college bound ski racers! Peninsula Competition offers training programs for novice through elite level racers with pedagogy in technique, tactics and refinement based on the latest training modules used with the US Ski Team.  The preseason camps main intentions are to provide early season training and gate practice, with an emphasis on technique analysis and correction.

We love what we do, so the consistent objective is to have fun!

WHO: Camps are open to any male or female from beginning to elite class racer.  Attendees must know basic ski maneuvers and be at an intermediate skier level or better.  Training camps are NOT intended for beginning skiers.

WHAT: Camps are set up with the student racer in mind.  While at a training camp the groups are kept as small as possible to provide for more individual attention. Camp pedagogy is closely aligned with the latest US Ski Team training philosophy.  Daily timed NASTAR race fees are included when available and published results are given to each racer!  Evening clinics and lectures are conducted on ski preparation, tuning, waxing, and sports physiology, nutrition and psychology along with the latest in ski race movies and training videos.  Highlight of  the camps are the “Camp Race” and activities that include: snow soccer, fitness workouts, swimming and a “pizza/movie night”!

WHERE: This year there will be two high school training camps (one in November and one in December) and one Middle School camp (in December) held at Norway Mountain in historic Norway, Michigan. Norway Mountain is home to one of the premier alpine race teams, Team Norway. Practice is held on a state-of-the-art race trail designed specifically for alpine racing. Norway Mountain has a race arena that is clearly the top alpine race training facility in the Midwest.  Lodging will be at the America's Best Inn.  Breakfast and Dinner will be at the hotel and lunch will be at the mountain.  The hotel has a swimming pool.

WHEN: For specific information on the logistics of each camp download the PDF documents on the home page.  The November camp is a Slalom only camp and will focus on technique.  This early camp is designed to not only dust off your equipment but to begin the new season with a clear focus on what technical areas you need to focus on for your ongoing practices.  The December camp is a longer, more comprehensive camp that will encompass both Slalom and GS training and is designed around preparing you for the best possible time trial performance as you begin your season.

STAFF: Camp Co-Directors are Marty Neighbors and Paul Helm. All head coaches have been certified with the United Ski Coaches Association with a level 1 or higher rating.  Assistant coaches are being obtained as numbers dictate.  Female racers are supervised by adult females on the trip.  Coach rooms are lodged amongst the racers to help facilitate supervision.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Keep in mind that in accordance with MHSAA rules, there is a list of required equipment.  You will need to bring your own skis, poles, boots and any items related to the tuning of your skis such as wax, files, irons and etc.  Ski clothing for all types of weather is needed along with goggles.  Helmets are required to race by both the Southeast Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) and the Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) and therefore also required for camp.  Please limit luggage to ONE suitcase and one SMALL carry-on.
